Amy Jacobsen CPDT-KA is owner and operator of Paws On Dog Training, LLC in Princeton New Jersey. She is a graduate of North State Canine's Accelerated Professional Obedience Instructor Course at Tarheel Canine in North Carolina. She has over half a decade of experience working with dogs in various environments. Not only does she have years of experience training dogs in private and group sessions, but she also brings knowledge from other areas of the pet care industry. Her experience has varied from managing a successful dog boarding and daycare facility to working in the veterinary care field.

Certified Professional Dog Trainers with the CPDT-KA designation have earned this credential by demonstrating their knowledge and experience in dog training. Each professional dog trainer who earns the CPDT-KA designation is required to achieve a minimum of 300 hours teaching classes, providing private dog training, and working with dogs before being permitted to sit for a psychometrically sound written examination. The written examination covers all facets of the dog training profession, including canine ethology, the science of learning theory, animal husbandry, classroom management and technique, and more.

A Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed stays informed of current knowledge in the field and is familiar with the latest, most effective training techniques and equipment and is required to attain continuing education units to recertify every three years. A Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed adheres to a strict Code of Ethics and provides a reference from a client, colleague, and veterinarian as part of their application for certification.

Amy's experience ranges from basic puppy behaviors like jumping and chewing, to more in depth cases displaying fear and aggression. As a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), Amy is committed to continuing education in her field. Her true passion is working with rescue dogs, as she has two of her own: an American Staffordshire mix named Abby and a Miniature Pinscher mix named Lucas.

Amy is motivated by creating rewarding relationships that are strengthened through proper education and training. Her goal is to provide the best training methods available to dogs and their humans. Strengthening the human-animal bond is her highest priority. She has a passion for communicating with people to better communicate with their four- legged friend.
